Quick and effective summarizer

Used the PDF Summarizer on a long report. It was quick and gave a good overview. Upload was fast. No issues at all.

Consistent performance for API

I've been using PDF.ai's API for a few months now, primarily for the Data Extraction Tool. My recent purchase was to upgrade my API tier. Just like previous times, the upgrade was seamless, and the new limits were applied instantly. The documentation is always clear, which makes integration straightforward. I appreciate the reliability; it has consistently performed well for my automation needs, processing hundreds of documents without issue. It's why I keep coming back.

Good value on Pro plan

I was looking for a tool to help with my course readings and PDF.ai came up. I compared it to a few others, and the Pro plan seemed to offer the most features for the price, especially with the annual billing discount. I got 20% off which was a nice saving. The Multi-PDF Chat is really useful for combining information from different sources. I used the PDF Summarizer quite a bit. It felt like a good investment for what I needed.

Good for research papers

I purchased the Research Assistant feature to help with a large volume of academic papers. The Document Q&A function was quite helpful, allowing me to ask specific questions and get quick answers without reading every page. It also generated citations, which saved a lot of time. The OCR Document Scanner worked well on some older PDFs I had, though a few had very faint text and it struggled a bit there. Overall, the process from signing up for the Pro plan to integrating my documents was smooth. Delivery was instant since it's a digital service. Support responded within a few hours when I had a question about file size limits. A solid tool for anyone dealing with lots of research material.

Is there any way to get a discount on the annual plan? Looking to subscribe for the year.

D Derek Nguyen 2 months ago
They almost always have a discount for annual billing, like 20% off compared to monthly. It usually just applies automatically at checkout when you pick the yearly option.

Yeah, if you switch from monthly to annual, it's cheaper. Sometimes they have promo codes too for like Black Friday, but the annual discount is standard.

Hey, is it safe to put sensitive legal documents on here? Like, is my data private?

D Derek 1 month ago
They say it is. I've used it for some contracts and never had an issue. They should have a privacy policy explaining how they handle user data.

I think they emphasize data privacy, it's a big deal for these kinds of tools. Check their terms, but generally, they encrypt stuff and don't share it.

How many PDFs can you upload on the free plan? Just wanna test it out before committing.

M Marcus 1 month ago
Not many, it's pretty limited. Good for a quick try to see how it works, but you'll hit the limit fast if you have a lot of documents. You might get like 3-5 small ones.

They usually cap it. I think it's more about getting a feel for the interface rather than actually doing heavy work on the free tier. File size matters too, not just count.

Hey, anyone know if they do a student discount? I'm looking at the pro plan for my research papers.

T Tara K. 2 months ago
Yeah, I think they do. I saw something about it when I signed up last semester for my thesis. Check their site or the FAQ, it's usually mentioned there.

They do! You usually have to verify your student status, like with a .edu email. It's a pretty good deal if you use it a lot for academic stuff.

Anyone know where you put in a promo code? Couldn't find a spot on the payment page.

C Colin 2 months ago
It's usually on the Stripe checkout page, which pops up when you're about to pay. Look for a small link or a box that says 'Add promo code' or 'Coupon code'.

O Omar B. 2 months ago
Yeah, it's during the final step of payment. After you pick your plan and hit subscribe, it'll take you to the payment gateway where there's an option for a code.

Thinking about getting PDF.ai but also looking at ChatPDF. Anyone tried both and can say which one's better for summarizing long docs?

A Andre Vargas 2 months ago
I used ChatPDF for a bit then switched. PDF.ai feels more robust for summarizing, especially if you have really dense technical papers. The chat feature is also better for drilling down into specifics, not just getting a high-level summary.

For just summarizing, they're both decent. But PDF.ai has more features if you need to do other stuff like extract data or split files. Depends on what else you're gonna use it for besides just summaries.

Does this thing work with scanned PDFs? Like if I have an old paper document I scanned in?

R Renee T. 2 months ago
Yeah, it does OCR. I've used it for scanned meeting notes and it usually picks up the text fine. Might struggle with really messy handwriting, but printed stuff is usually good.

W Wendy T. 2 months ago
Their OCR is pretty solid. It's designed for that, so it should be able to read your scanned documents and make them chat-able. Just make sure the scan quality isn't totally awful.

Can I cancel my subscription any time or am I locked in for the full year if I choose annual billing?

J James E. 2 months ago
You can usually cancel anytime, but if you paid for the year, you'd probably just lose access at the end of that period, not get a refund for the unused months. Monthly plans you can just stop next cycle.

J Jared C. 2 months ago
Pretty sure you can cancel whenever. For annual, it just means you won't get renewed for another year. They don't typically do pro-rata refunds, so use up your time!
